Medication

+ What is this weight loss medication?

Semaglutide is a Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) and Tirzepatide is a Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These are a class of medication that are considered to be non-addictive and mimic naturally produced GLP-1 and/or GIP receptor hormones in the small intestine that stimulates insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon secretion, which lowers blood sugar and appetite. The stomach empties food more slowly; the brain helps regulate appetite and cravings; the pancreas releases the right amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high; and the liver reduces production of glucose which lowers blood sugar levels. Studies have demonstrated that Semaglutide or Trizepatide treatments reduced appetite, improved control of eating, improved glycemic control, and reduced food cravings. Both ingredients are FDA-approved and clinically proven treatment for weight loss.

For that reason, the Doctor may likely start you off on a lower dosage amount and then gradually build up. These initial side effects may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, tiredness, upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, gas, stomach flu, and heartburn.
